About Us

IMG_1150.JPG

Founded by Ashley Scott and Jessica McCollough, the S.T.A.R Program was established in 2014 to promote STEM achievement among Baltimore City students at Calvin Rodwell Elementary School.

Throughout the program, fifth grade students are visited bi-monthly by volunteers and taught about different STEM subjects, e.g. physics. Each visit includes a mini-lesson on the subject and an interactive activity. At the end of the school year, students are placed into groups by STEM interest and are expected to present at the End of the Year Project Symposium at UMBC.

Topics that are covered include Chemistry, Math, Engineering, Biology, Physics, and Computer Science.
